The IBS Convention Center was built in 1914 as administrative building for a briquetting plant named Erika. The plant was closed in 1989/1990. Since 2007 the building has been reconstructed and is used now as convention center and hotel.

Together, this is an important aspect for innovation and cooperation. Foundation IBS connects computer scientists from research and applications together, using also common business networks like Xing and LinkedIn. Bridges to local industry partnes are build by out ITB cooperation and regional organisations of Bitkom, IHK and SiliconSaxony.
